Side extension on top of ground floor study

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.00 PM

I am looking to extend the side of the house and build another bedroom with en-suite on top of the ground floor study. Does anyone know whether this is classed as a single or double storey project . Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

This will be classed as a double story as you need to check what you’re building on is man enough to take the weight.

This is a first floor extension over an existing ground floor extension. Your planning and building regulations would be for a First Floor extension. It would need to comply with the rules of a double storey extension.

Two storey for planning purposes one storey for pricing.

It would be classed as a 2 storey as you would need to check the existing foundations would support the extra weight
