You need a solvent made by a company called (ball) it comes in a yellow tin it eats through glue oil ect ball are a carpet glue manufacturer but use in moderation you can buy off internet or possibly carpet shop

Heads up, Gripfill does a solvent and non-solvent based tube so dot just throw anything on it. Try and find out which one it was first. My advice if it is the solvent based one (in the green tube) is to first try and pick at it and break it down. If you end up using any solvent products to try and remove it first test it on a patch in a cupboard where you can't see it to make sure it won't damage the carpet. Good luck and don't kill your boyfriend, blood is much harder to get out :)

My suggestion would to use a petroleum based or alcohol product to pour on where the no more nail marks are let it sit for a minute then scrub it with a hard bristle brush
