Replacing gas hob

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.20 PM

Hi, My current 5-burner gas hob is working fine but we are planning to replace it with another one. Something like this. https://www.johnlewis.com/zanussi-zgo75524ba-gas-hob-black/p1999065 1. Who should I hire for this (Electrician/Gas Engineer/Plumber)? 2. Does the alignment of hobs have to be the same as I have on my current hob? For example, I currently have the biggest hob in the middle, but I have seen some hobs which have a different design (like biggest hob on the side). Many thanks. -Saket

In addition and especially If your worktop is granite make sure the cut out size for the hob you buy is the same as the one fitted. Instruction/installation manual will define these. If it's a laminate, chipboard, MDF worktop that isn't so much an issue which is easily overcome with a jigsaw. The positioning of the incoming gas supply isn't a worry. Every hob I have installed needs its pipework adjusting to suit

Hi you would need a gas safe registered engineer, the layout of the new hob wont make any difference. Just make sure the new hob is the same size or bigger than the one your replacing to fit in your worktop.
