Hot water only works when clicking heating on

Had a gas engineer out as i was struggling to get hot water. Working if you click heating on. But this morning as heating been on constant wouldn't work. So tried turning it off the constant and onto the heating manually wouldn't run hot from the bath.. Yet the sink would run hot. Heating engineer wasn't sure if it was the pump or something else the pump neon does flash when trying to run it without the heating on. Any help on suggestions would appreciate it

As you will appreciate we cannot and should not offer advice to home owners on how to carry out repairs to there boilers so I would strongly suggest inviting another Gas Safe engineer who this time specialises in boiler breakdowns.
Be sure he/she does by simply asking the question before inviting them to attend!
