Anyone any experience of floor-based sound-proofing systems?

I'm looking at the defender series from trim acoustics...Basically, large boards of mdf backed with recycled foam that you place underneath existing underlay/carpet. I was thinking about doing it to reduce impact noise from my upstairs neighbours, its not cheap though! they vary in thickness from 18mm to 35mm, so I'm aware the thicker ones might not fit under the existing carpet and also would necessitate shaving door bottoms, possibly ramps in doorways etc. due to differing heights. The property I'm in is a basement flat, converted pre-regs. Very noisy from above, mostly impact.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi There. I would suggest to insulate between joist and then install sound proof plasterbord possibly 2 layers.

There are different types of acoustic insulation, some of them are cheaper others are more expensive. If you need something more "light" to use there are acoustic soundproofing mats that are 2mm thin and they provide a value of 24db. Applying two layers will increase the value to 29db. Another type of insulation that can be used are acoustic panels that are 22.5 mm thick and will provide a value of 50db in noise reduction. The fact that how thick is the insulation do not influence necessarily the value of noise reduction.
