Insulation

Insulation a fitted wardrobe suffering from damlp/condensation

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.45 PM

Hi, We had an alcove space in our upstairs bedroom, which we decided to build a fitted wardrobe (wLk in style) Now the wall itself this is connected to is directly to the exterior front wall, which is cold but by closing this to air we've now suffered damp (light flecks of mold) and condensatiin Shame the builder didn't advise on this happening but next steps now.. 1. Best way to insulate the inside, ideally getting the wall temperature higher than it is now? 2. Do I need to make a ventilation hole at the front? it's closed off by a door and I'm guessing the wardrobe needs air in and out? 3. Any other long term suggestions?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

ventilation and airflow is your friend. Consider installing a ventilation grill on the wardrobe door or using a grill type timber door should work. failing that a grill in the outside wall, but this would be a last resort as it will cause drafts. Also stop any damp air from entering the wardrobe as this would cause condensation to develop...hope this helps
