Treadmill upstairs

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.20 PM

We have a 1900 terraced house in Hackney. We are using a treadmill in the upstairs middle bedroom. Is this likely to damage the house?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there, it all depends on the floor joist size that's been used on your property, being such a old house I would of thought the timbers won't be a significant size therefore cracks may start to appear in the ceiling below.

i highly doubt it as it should come under domestic load...depends how hard you hit the treadmill! and what condition the existing floor is in....see how you go on and if any cracks appear on the ground floor ceiling then stop using it until it has been investigated....
