Actually we want a ladder in our Loft with a light

Hello, we normally get by this by way of a 12v dc light set up and normally open door contacts fitted to the inside of the loft hatch when the hatch is opened and the ladder is visible the lights automatically come on enabling you to see in the loft. also we install a lamp like switch at the top of the hatch so if needed it can be manually turned on/off whilst in the loft. There isn’t actually any switch that will allow the ladder to trigger a light on. Unlike your standard door switch you can have in a wardrobe, this wouldn’t work. Your best bet would either be a pullcord ? Or maybe have a sensor in the loft, as so when you open it senses you and turns the lights on :)
