Best way to seal a patio - is resin worth the cost over more traditional methods?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.45 PM

Been recommended using a resin to finish a patio costing c400 pounds - is this worth the money vs more traditional cheaper methods? Thanks

Hi there, in my experience the resin filler has been worth the money. If its done correctly it just doesn't shrink or crack which means a job that last for longer and you wont get any call backs. It also doesn't stain anything.

I have to say that personally I don't like resin. It's a professional choice but I prefer to stick with traditional methods that are tried and tested. There's a lot of talk about chemical washoff and having to alter installation methods of paving to suit the resin, seems nonsense to me. Why not use sand and cement but add some lime to increase elasticity to minimise shrinks and cracks worked pretty well for the Romans eh!? If you want a modern twist to it use SBR instead of lime 🤙
