Disconnect wall light

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.45 PM

Is there an easy way of disconnecting wall lights from the mains? I have removed the lamps themselves but feel I should disconnect and remove the wiring before decorating. The lamp switch is on a double switch with the main room light.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Lighting wires usually come from the top, straight down from the ceiling. If you go upstairs to the room above the wall light And if possible pull bit of carpet up, remove floor board, you MAY be able to pull the wire up out from the wall. Then you can terminate the wire Properly and leave in the floor cavity. Obviously turn lighting ring off first.. failing that, the other way is chase out and fit a box to hide the terminated wire in.

Disconnect the cables from the wall light Make sure all connections go back the same but without the wall light connected Put in through crimps/connector blocks tape up connection put into a safe junction box and bury into the wall Or trace cable back and take out from it’s main connection
