Skirting off to have porcelain tiles laid onto sand & cement screed with wet UFH underneath?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.20 PM

We are having an anti fracture laid down first , heating will have been taken up to temperature and then cooled down before tiling. However skirts were already put on by builder but tiler says they need to be taken off to allow for expansion and avoid 'tenting'. However why would this happen if we have anti fracture membrane down? Taking all the skirts off will be a pain and most likely damage the plaster work. Any info much appreciated as opinions are varying a lot??

Hi, normally skirts are last as they sit above the tiles to cover the expansion gap, only way now if you dont want to remove them is cut tiles short(2-3)mm and silicon gap which will act as a expansion joint for you

bite the bullet and remove the skirting apart from the obvious expansion issues your tiles should go under the skirting for best looking results

Tiles need to go under the skirting to acheive a good finish.
