Glass blocks in wall

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.00 PM

I am trying to put glass bricks in a wall. I have seen these with gaps between the blocks about 2mm. How would I build this? Would I use wood and Plaster board between?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

hi aimee3, glass brick are usually layed in with a sand and cement mix, the gap is usually the mortar. you should remove the bricks in the area you wish to place the new glass brick and re build that wall with the glass bricks and mortar mix. hope it helps

Hi Aimee, don't use sand and cement, it is too strong and will cause cracking of mortar joints and potentially the glass blocks as well. Use a bagged glass block mortar as it is specifically designed for the task.
