Is my boiler supposed to fire up almost constantly?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.21 PM

My combi boiler fires up almost constantly and it’s driving me insane. I first of all just want to know if this is normal or if it’s broken? It’s a Vaillant Eco tech Plus 837 and was installed 4 years ago when my flat was new. Regardless of whether heating is on/off on the wall controls the boiler fires up for about 2 mins, takes a 30 second break and then does it again. When the heating is on it’s even more frequent than this. Pretty much just rumbling away constantly. The only way to stop it is to turn the heating to off on the actual boiler itself but then I obviously can’t have heating on a timer or anything. People have suggested that I have comfort mode on but there isn’t such an option on my model. I've had people offer to come and take a look but i guess my initial question is, Is this supposed to happen? I've never noticed it at anyone elses house...but then maybe i wouldn't if i wasn't listening for it? Question 2, Is this increasing my gas usage or would that only come into play when the heating is being used? Thanks

Could be a faulty thermostat causing this. Best cause of action is to get a diagnostic carried out by a qualified person.

On those boilers there is a 12v link that needs to be removed after installing a 240v room stat. Common installation fault is they normally get let wired in place
