Shower pump stopped working

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.21 PM

I installed a secondhand Stuart Turner 4 bar pump it worked great for a few weeks. Then went out and came back lodger - who has very long 20 minute+ showers said it started to go wrong so her daughter switched it on and off or something then it stopped altogether. Don't always believe what lodger says but it is completely dead. Is there anything I can do/try?

is it positive or negative head?,have you checked filters on suction side ?,4 bar did it run tank or cylinder down this could result in debris from pipework being sucked into filters on pump.

There’s a good chance you may have an airlock that the pump isn’t able to shift. If there is a shower hose attachement, remove the head and Hold the hose as low as possible and switch on the shower, this may shift it. Failing that you can disconnect the outlets of the pump into a bucket and you should get it out that way. If the pump is making grinding or a noise that sounds like it’s jammed switch the pump off as it can burn the pump out entirely. Be prepaired though as you may need a new pump.
