Roofing

Incorporating multiwall polycarbonate sheets with OSB board shed roof

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.00 PM

Hi everyone. I am designing/building a shed roofing system. I've currently installed a single pitched roof, using 18mm thick OSB boards supported by 45x100mm rafters (spaced approx 600mm apart). The room is a little darker than I was hoping and so I'm now wanting to incorporate a skylight system into the roof (on a budget). I'm hoping to use multi wall polycarbonate sheets, to span between the rafters and have a length of approx 1.5m max. My question is, is this feasible? It doesn't appear to be a conventional system. I'm wondering if you have any advice about how best to approach having multi wall polycarbonate sheets sitting flush with OSB board, which is then going to be felted. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi I would probably build a small upstand on top of the roof for the opening required then maybe obersail the polycarbonate say 50mm all the way round
