Damage to property while boiler was being repaired

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.21 PM

I recently had some one come to repair an overflow pipe on my combi boiler. When he had finished the job he decided to sit on insulation and hence his foot went through the ceiling of my room. Its my main bedroom where my kids and the family spend a lot of time. The person has admitted liability but wants me to pay for the repair as he says he can only pay me for the damage once his insurance pays him. What should i do ? Thanks

Get him to put it in writing before you ask anyone to repair it. Once you have his liability exception in writing then get a couple quotes.

He caused it so he should rectify and pay all costs involved to repair. Get it in writing that he admits causing the damage.

If he accepts liability then there is no problem, get two estimates and then let him choose which one he pays for, he needs to pay himself then claim the money back from his insurance.

I think you need to first establish if he does have public liability insurance. Did you hire him from here?

Once he has accepted liability and have proof of this there can be no question on if they repair or not.
