Lumps coming up in concrete floor

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.42 PM

I've lived in my house for almost 4 years and the kitchen floor, which seems to be all concrete, was never totally level. However, now there are large lumps appearing all over it. It's just covered with roll vinyl and I had hoped to redo with vinyl tiles later in the year but obviously I'd rather not be tripping over lumps of concrete! The lumps vary in size from small humps to a larger ones around a foot squared. I lifted up the edge of the vinyl and there's no evidence of water or anything in particular. Not sure what to do on this one or who I should approach - is it worth contacting my buildings insurance or might it be a relatively small job to sort?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Depending on the age of the property it can be variety of issues deffinaltey worth having the lino taken up and have samples of the concrete a relatively old property can suffer with sulphur attacks on the concrete it could also be bad damp protection best case it's a simple dig out affected areas re skim worse case the whole floor needs to come out new insulation dpm and a sealer hope this was helpful and you get it sorted thank you. mf and sons home improvements
