New Stove and Oven. Oven works but only 2 out 4 stoves work :(

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.42 PM

I recently bought a new oven/stove (both parts electric). I have an old fuse box (with weird pointy comical fuses that you have to screw in). The new oven/stove was professionally installed and the oven and 2 out of 4 stoves work. However when the electrician left we found out that 2 stoves don’t work. When we called him he said we might need to change or upgrade one of the fuses in the fuse box. Does that sound right? We know the 2 stoves that don’t work are not faulty (this is the second oven/stove we have tried). Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

So the electrician told you you needed a con unit upgrade after installing these items? That’s a new one, he should have advised you before installation. Think you have some links missing in your stoves. Should tell you in the instructions or on the plate at the back there will be a diagram for 400 v three phase or 230v single phase. The latter is yours.

some stoves/ovens got an option to connect 1phase supply or 3 phase supply, If you using 1 phase, most likely in the stove/oven connection box electrician should use copper links (should be supplied with the stove) to set stove/oven for the 1Phase supply. If your electrician forgot to use copper links, some stoves wont be working. Its a big chance, that your fuse box/wiring my need upgrading too.

If two stoves are working then it's nothing to do with the fuse box. I have never came across a three phase stove but think the guy is on the right track with the links needing added. It is definitely an internal problem and upgrading the consumer unit won't change the problem.
