Electric box getting boxed in

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.42 PM

I'm having a joiner box in my electric fuse box with a wooden cupboard, is this safe?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes My edit... to the other answer, only if you are changing the consumer unit does it have to be metal. I wasn’t aware that the poster was changing it, I thought the question was about boxing it in🤔

You should ensure that the consumer unit is made from non combustable material, (17th edition Amendment 3 regulation) Please also ensure that it is still accessible for the case to be removed and also leave some space at the cable entry points in case you require any extra work, nothing worse for an electrician when testing if you can't get to the work area easily.
