Can we put an external door in the side of our house?

We’ve converted our garage and would like to put an external door in the side of our house which will be in the new utility room. Is this possible? If so, what do we need to consider?

In order to achieve this you need to contact your local planning department and ask if there are any restrictions on your proposed idea. If all is well then you will need to install a structural support above the new door area using a lintel or steel. Then with this in place you can then cut out the doorway and install the door frame and door assembly.

Yes It is possible. If you contact building control at your local planning department and see if it’s something that you can do to the property then if it’s ok for you to go ahead with it you will need to cut an opening In the wall with a structural lintel/steel that will be set and packed above the new opening and then fit the frame and door to suit and make good once installed.. toothing of bricks will be required if the wall Is brickwork
