Hot water runs out in 15min

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.59 PM

Hi, We have a hot water tank and a boiler. They were running quite well until recently where the hot water in the shower started running out within 15mins even if we have already set it to be on for more than an hour. The tank is quite large, I think 130lit, and if I read the temp control on it correctly it says 85C. The other question I have, is that this system supplies the house which has a main bathroom and an ensuite, but it seems they cannot be used at the same time because opening the water in one affects the other. Any ideas why that might be or what can be a solution? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, there could be an issue with the controls for the cylinder/boiler or a problem with the dip tube in the cylinder. Either could cause the hot water to run out after a short period of time. The poor flow when running two outlets could be caused by a blocked strainer or pressure reducing valve causing a reduced flow of cold water to the cylinder, reducing the flow rate of hot water from the cylinder.
