can I remove concrete in the living room and replace with floorboards?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.20 PM

Hi, I am currently renovating my property and have removed the carpet in the living room. To which it now shows floorboards and a patch of concrete to the right of the chimney breast. I would like a wooden floorboard finish throughout but not sure if I can remove the concrete? On the concrete it says piped.. which I imagine relates to the gas. Is it safe to chizzle the concrete and lay floorboards over the top? Thank you

Hi there, you need to be careful, if you start chiselling away and disturb a gas pipe joint you could get a gas leak. If you were to create a spark with the hammer and chisel or an electric chisel that could be a recipe for disaster. It would be necessary to get a Gas Safe Registered Engineer. Hope this helps.
