Replace rotting conservatory structure with one to walk on top of.

Just bought a 1971 built house that 'benefits' from a flat roofed glass module on the back approx 2.4m wide x 80cm deep. We would love to replace it with an identical footprint BUT use the flat roof as a balcony reached by opening out our existing bedroom window (above it) with french doors. It's a detached house, the homes in the area all have a full height window for the room adjacent to the bedroom, so we anticipate a Juliette balcony should be possible if we cant walk on the new flat roof. What do the experts suggest / think please?

As long as you check with your local planning department as there may be issues regarding it being a balcony and overlooking surrounding properties there is no reason why you could not fit a structural roof with an appropriate guardrail that is passed by building control. speak to planning in the first instance and see what their thoughts are.
