Laminate Floor wobbles a lot when walking over a section of it

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.41 PM

Hi, I’ve just recently had some expensive laminate flooring laid downstairs and have noticed that a large section of it bounces / wobbles a lot near where the old hallway was (we had the wall removed to enlarge the space). On closer inspection, it looks like the high point of the floor is in the centre of the room and everything slopes down toward the wall / old hallway area where this is happening. Can anyone tell me if the whole flooring has to be replaced with the floor levelled off? Or, can the builders just do say half of the room i.e where it’s most uneven. The laminate was laid on top of ply boards and the floor wasn’t concreted so it’s definitely not level. There is some underlay I think, I don't know the make of it, its thin and green in colour. What would you as the experts advise? I'd appreciate any advice / help. Thanks...

Looks like Yours floor layers install to "honestly" laminate. Can you check gap between the walls and laminate, all around the room' (minimum gap 10mm) and make cuts where necessary to maintain this expansion gap. After this procedure yours laminate should stop bouncing and you be able to fit scotia beads around (skirting boards) room. Or , if floor level are to big difference, you are able to fit laminate in that many sections as require.

Its either the sub floor was level prior to fitting, or the expansion gap hasn't been achieved (10mm minimum).
