What type of plaster to use on plaster board.

I just covered up my fireplace hole with plasterboard and I now I just to plaster it up to even it out with the wall (it's about a 15mm depth and the area to cover it's 80cm width , 70 hieght). What type of plaster should I use ? I assume I need to put a base coat on then put a slim/finish over it?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Ideally you should have blocked it up with masonry. However, now that you have boarded it, I would suggest adding another layer of 12.5mm plasterboard to reduce thickness off plaster. Then use multi finish, 2 coats with an overall thickness of 3mm or thereabouts. Remember to install an air brick to vent the chimney!

use board finish, its in a green bag where the multi skim is in b&q for £6.12. put a base coat on first then mix another batch up but runnier than the first coat then flatten off and trowel up jobs a goodun bud. if its the full fireplace wall your plastering just use multifinish

if you pack the board out so you don't have to build it up that will save time aswell as money , if your covering existing fire place would recommend putting a vent on the front to let it breath or you will more than likely end up with damp patch

You would be better using a bag of bonding to build it out and then multi finish to finish it off
