Central Heating

Pressure keeps getting higher every after use of central heating, is it normal??

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.44 PM

Hi I have a vaillant ecotec plus 824 installed back in 2010. Noticed 2 weeks back, my issue is after using the central heating the gauge pressure is higher than what it started with. For example i’ve drained the pressure so its zero and repressurised to 1.5 bar, turn heating on for two hours turn it off give it an hour to cool down. The cold pressure now rests at 1.9 and in the end after four or five times the pressure becomes too high 2.8 cold pressure and i will have to drain it. I have recharged my expansion vessell to at least 0.75 bar because the pressure use to climb up to 3.6 when using central heating (not happening anymore). There are no visible leaks on the pipes and rads. Not sure whats causing this? Anyone have an idea?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes is normal You DONT should remove pressure from boiler to 0 bar always keep at 1.5 bar when heating is off. when you put heating on pressure will go up to 2---2.5 bar is a closed system if the pressure go over the red line boiler have security valve and will automaticly remove outside the house extra wather pressure etc

I Agree with KSA-24 DECORATING&PLASTERING SERVICES(general renovations) with this, but would also advise that the pressure once the system is up to temperature will always vary depending on the size of the system and whether the installed expansion vessel is been selected correctly at the time of installation as well as have the pressure set correctly before filling the system.
