Lay engineered wood flooring over concrete and latex floor

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.21 PM

Hi guys, can I lay engineered wood flooring over concrete and latex providing the moisture levels are ok? Obviously I’ve been putting a foam underlay down but wondered if I needed any sort of damp protection layer? Help appreciated 👍🏻

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

important to check the moisture content of the concrete …. engineered flooring is probably your best way to go,,,, make sure the floor is flat.... ie level,,, but flat is more important,,,, place a small square of plastic on the floor ,,, tape all sides,,, remove after 48 hrs you will see if there is any build up of condensation.... Is there a membrane under the concrete? if so check concrete with a damp meter, if ok then lay self levelling compound and when dry lay floor. if no membrane under concrete then definately put a membrane under the floor.
