Plastering & Rendering

My plaster board sits quite far back from existing wall.

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.44 PM

So I've blocked up an old doorway and the plaster board sits a good 20 mm behind the existing wall. Is it possible to make this gap up with plaster to make it flush with the rest of the wall. Tia, Danny.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there Danny, What I reccomemed is you get timber wood attach 3 studs going horizontal In between the plaster boards leaving enough thickness on each side for the plaster board's to sit flush with the wall. You can get the timber cut to your preferred width so when installing the timber should have a 18mm drop on both sides so the plaster board will sit snuggle.

Maybe you could still add another layer or 2 of plasterboard to being you out desired thickness. This may be quicker than using an undercoat player such as bonding

Over-boarding using the dot and dab method would be the easiest option, or use a bonding coat on the walls, either option would need a skim finish. They are the two things I would do.

Just add another board on top to help bring the thickness out. That will leave 7.5 mil.Apply 4/5 mil of bonding then skim on top of that

you could put another bit of plasterboard there or bond it out so its all flush ready for a skim.
