Build a plinth wall for living room

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.44 PM

https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/751116044080275299/visual-search/?x=16&y=12&w=530&h=397 Please look at the example above, you may understand what I mean. I am wanting to build this mini wall so the cables can go behind it. The wall its going on is a load baring wall which is mostly plasterboard with pilers of brick inbetween (hopefully you know what I mean). Whats the best way to screw the wooden studs on wall and also best way to get the plaster board on without showing the screws. I am hoping to paint it a darker grey. The TV mount will go on the loading baring wall not on the plaster board.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

build stud work, fix stud to wall with long screws and wall plug. fit plasterboard with drywall screws to stud work and fill gaps and screw holes with tap and joint compound. plaster, job done. Where tv is being mounted, you want to ensure there is studs behind to take the weight.

Studs to the load bearing wall can be fixed with screws and plugs, as for the surface that can depend on the function that 'build up' would carry out. There is couple examples on the website provided. If the build up is acting only as a feature you might want to consider plasterboard/plaster/paint, but if its holding a weight (TV) I would recommend something bit more sturdy like MDF on which you can achieve nicer paint finish. Hope that helps.
