new bathroom - bath water floods shower before exiting via hopper

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.44 PM

so sorry to bother you but have had a new bathroom and had numerous issues it's driving me loopy. My question is that every time I empty my bath the water comes up into my shower tray before exiting through into the external hopper. The plumber has given me lots of reasons eg hair blockage (from minute 1?) but after looking around I have asked if the Tee pipe junction bit may have been fitted the wrong way round to cause this which plumber says possibly. I have then been advised (by my dad not a plumber but hates to see his daughter being messed about) that the bath and shower shouldnt share but have their own waste pipes?!?! My plumber has said he will fit a 1 way valve to sort this. My dad says he's a lazy bleep. Please advise on whether my plumber's solution will sort my issue or whether I should push for separate waste or a different plumber??

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

your waste pipes should be separate and have the correct fall on them, one way valve will silt up and cause you problems in the future.make him put it right.

Hello, I’m Ben and hope I can help you. A non return valve at this stage sounds like your best option. If you have any photos that would make it a lot easier to give you the best advice.
