Sweaty patches on chimney breast

I have noticed that I have sweaty watery patches on my chimney breast in my bedroom. I've been adviced to apply a salt neutrilser on the wall without stripping it to its original brickwork if the original plastering hasn't been damaged by the sweaty patches?

Hi, if there is any moisture on the chimney breast of your bedroom! Before you try to replaster or repair any damage,i would recommend a roofer inspect the chimney stack, lead and tiles around it. Most probles can be caused by deteriorating cement work or old lead needing repair and sometimes a broken or slipped tile.
