Fibreglass roof
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.19 PM
I done a fibreglass roof a few months back on my shed, my first and only attempt , I have it plastered inside but now see some wet patches coming through, there is pin holes in the fiberglass and can see the strands through top coat! Looking for a solution, do I need to re do the whole shed roof again, sand it right back or what would be the best way to go forward! Thanks in advance Niall

good morning Niall, sounds like you didn't put enough resin in when you wet the fibreglass, and maybe did not use a metal consolidating roller to get rid of any air bubbles etc. You may have moisture embedded in your roof now and I would advise you make sue that you have a dry roof. Rub it down and re fibreglass with new matting ensuring the correct mixture of resin to fibreglass. You will see the strands through the top coat to a degree. good luck with the new coat.

Hi
Sand down your roof with 60grit paper - wear a dust mask and overall otherwise it will make you itch!
Apply acetone to deck.
Lay new mat ensuring you wet the sanded deck with resin before laying your fibreglass.
Lay mat and wet out deck with second layer of resin.
Consolidate with a consolidating roller.
Good Practice - go back over mat with another thin roller of resin.
Allow to cure.
Lightly sand down surface.
Apply topcoat.
