Too much cold water pressure at shower head.

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.41 PM

Getting too much cold water coming through shower head. Can this be adjusted in the mixer unit? Or does a pump need to be fitted in the hot water supply? (had the water supply pipe from mains in the road changed, now the cold water pressure is very high).

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello, If you have a combi boiler, you can not install a booster pump to increase the hot water supply. You can install pressure reduce valve to the main cold water supply.

Hi, Start with the simplest thing first. Before installing any reducer valves, adjust the mains pressure my locating the stop cock and closing it slightly to reduce the incoming mains.

If a combination boiler the main water inlet is adaquate for system but if it’s a pressurised system the equalising valve may need adjusting to equalise the hot and cold outlets Or your tempiture valve on shower needs a inspection Sounds like you just need a inspection on the system you have to rectify the problem

1- If the pressure or flow of water is affecting the whole house then I'd go with installing a pressure reducing valve. 2- If it's only the shower and the temperature adjustment is good then changing the shower head to a higher flow one may be all you need to do.
