Delay in hot water reaching shower

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.41 PM

There are 2 Triton power showers both been replaced in last year or so - original pipework. The one in the far bathroom takes forever to get warm (just timed it and its just over two minutes but seems for ever when waiting) Both are fed from 60" x 18" ind hot water cylinder, one shower is nearly 5 m away the second 11 m away (total length of pipework). The cold water comes from 2 x 4 x 2 cold water tank in loft above the far shower. This needs a new lid also. What is the best way to fix this? Could change to pressurised hot water system as are 2 hot runs to far bathroom (one to shower and one to bath so could make a circuit) Or add booster pump or what? The nearer shower is slow but not so bad. Happy to pay to get it sorted as embarrassed to have guests use the showers. Appreciate any suggestions. Many thanks. Location is south of Saffron Walden Essex.

Hi Andrea Depending on the practicalities of running additional pipework the easiest solution is a 'secondary return'. This additional pipework returns water to your hot water cylinder via a circulator (pump). This means there is always hot water flowing through your hot water pipes ready to be drawn off. The pump can be switched off or on depending on your guests residential status. I'm assuming the showers have internal pumps. Regards Roy
