Painting timber casement windows

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.19 PM

Hi currently painting for a friend. So the interior is cream and the exterior is green. But what colour do I paint in the window recess (like where the window shuts into and where the hinges are) Very confused where the cream and the green should meet??

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Normal window shut interior colour window open exterior colour. That's how I was shown in college. And easy way I remembered. Hope this helps

The outer side of the opening sash and the outer frame face would normally be in ie green and any inner faces of the frame would be in cream as when you are opening a window or door to the outside you are extending your comfort areas. As when you have them closed to the controlled comforts of familiarity, relaxation and security a home brings. But in reality there’s no rules to personal choice and individual taste, Ideally when the windows closed you should not be able to determine the opposite face value or disturb the flow of the room. Hope that has some food for thought 👍🏼 Thanks Jamie
