Changing french door opening right to left?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.19 PM

I have upvc french doors, the primary opening door (has to be opened first) is on the right and it would be mega handy if the left one could open first instead. Is this an easy task? Or even possible?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes this is poss the centre mulliion would have to be swapped to other door, which is made easier if both doors have handles if not two sets of handles would need to be purchased and possibly a new lock set as well.

Pretty unlikely that you can just reverse the doors due to the frame itself having it's mouldings and cills placed for the current configuration. It is possible, however, that you may be able to completely remove frame (remove the doors first) and reverse it into the existing gap before rehanging the doors. This, however, is likely to have an adverse effect on the current decoration surrounding it. A picture of what you've got would help.
