Hello, I need an external door put into my kitchen wall (1st-floor maisonette) to allow access to an external staircase which leads into my garden, I am yet to obtain planning permission just getting an idea of work needed. The wall in which I wish to put the door in has pipes running along the bottom so a step may also need to be fitted. the wall is brick and whether it is load bearing is unknown. Please provide days needed/things that I would need to obtain prior getting this work done. Thank you,

Hello Jessica, I have done a few of these, I use a large angle grinder to cut the wall with, its messy, everything is sealed off, using a hammer & chisel can loosen a lot of other bricks you don't want to disturb, the issues are lintels, it will need to be in the wall above the opening, any wiring in the wall and pipe work if crossing the area, It is not a difficult job just time and mess really, regards Ren
