If I Build up To the Boundary, Can the Foundations Stop at The Same Point
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.44 PM
Generally around the site I am proposing 600mm foundations with 300mm cavity wall in the center, it is a semi detached property, can i do a 450mm foundation with the 300mm cavity wall at the edge as I do not want to put any foundations on the neighbors property? Will building control allow this, they are going to be trench fill 1000mm deep.

Hi, you can not do 450mm foundation because its will effect loading calculation and it won't pass the building control.

Depending on the ground you may get away with a 450 foundation always depends on the inspector. Usually 100mm each side bearing but you can get away with it if you know what your doing. If not can you do a smaller cavity? E.g. 70mm cavity with thermalites on the inside? Maybe using insulated boards?
