Length of dishwasher/washing machine inlet and drain pipes

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.44 PM

Hi. Am looking into putting a dishwasher in the kitchen as well as washing machine. What is the max length that the inlet and drain pipes can be for both appliances? Thanks

For an appliance to be correctly installed, it should be able to be removed from its housing into the kitchen with all pipes and electrics still connected so that the service engineer can test it fully out of its housing. Also the drain hose that comes with the appliance is the maximum length of drain hose that can be used with the appliance and should never be extended by coupling an additional drain hose onto it. The services need to be brought to the appliance not the appliance hoses and cables stretched to the services as the majority of badly installed appliances are.

The length of the inlet will not be an issue as you can extend the plumbing pipework to go to one meter from the machine which is the length of the usual pipes supplied with the machine. The length of the waste pipe will be dictated by the machine you buy. they all have different strength pumps to pump the wast out, which dictates the length of the pipe.
