Soundproof party wall
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.20 PM
I’m looking to cut down the noise/soundproof two bedroom walls that are the party walls with next door. Think the construction is single brick just plastered over, built in the 1980s. The wall lets every noise through from TV to talking/shouting from both upstairs and downstairs. I’ve been recommended both rockwool and Kingspan to go onto the wall and then get it plastered over. Redecorating is a must for the room anyway. Was wondering if there was any further advice with regards to this method. Thanks in advance.

I will recommend sticking a double layer of EE BOARD.these method will reduce the wasted space, is faster and more efficient.you will have to fallow correct fixings procedures and seal with acoustic sealant to all edges

I think the most cost effective way is batten and over board with sound blocking plaster board, seal the edges then tape and join, this in my opinion should be suffice and most cost effective method.

Resilliant bars are a great solution for this in my opinion. Small stud wall filled with sound block dense insulation (also serves as fire protection). Finish wall with blue sound plaster board and finish as preffered
