They do not require an individual circuit it will be a part of the kitchen socket circuit but they will have a separate switched fused spur for each appliance so the you can isolate each appliance separately I.e washing machine, fridge etc

I think you mean fused spur units. These are generally required if the socket below the worktop is inaccessible for the appliance. Ie behind it. You should be able to isolate the appliance for safety/ maintenance without having to move it.

Hi
That is a very "how long is a piece of string question" . whilst there strictly isn't a reg to cover this. guidelines to follow. can the switch be reached if there is a problem, especially if a rental. i rent out several properties and always think, what if the tennant has a problem- for what ever reason, could they switch the appliance off quickly. would they know where the switch is.
Also is the consumer uptown current regulations. B7671- about to be 18th edition.
having a fused switch above the worktop means in the event of a problem, a tenant (or anyone) can quickly isolate that appliance and not cause any more damage to the property.
Imagine if there was a fire and the switch couldn't be reached. if in doubt -always err on safety first.
i hope that helps.
