lead flashing - purpose of, and correct fitting of
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.19 PM
Hi. I have just spent over £5k to have an existing lean-to porch (about 5ft w x 12ft long) replaced - half height brick wall and floor left in place, and the stained old polycarbonate roof, upvc windows and doors replaced with glass roof, composite front door and upvc back door. The firm put the doors on the opposite way round to how we wanted them and when we complained they said that the doors could not be hung the way we wanted as they were too heavy, so they had to have the hinges nearest to the house. Then the flashing - i assume to weatherproof it is cut into the brickwork above the area to be sealed, then follows the wall down and folds past the area where the roof meets brick, perhaps acouple of inches past? So they have fit the flashing but with the flashing finishing pretty much where the roof meets brick. And the rain is getting in really badly. There's electrics in there too. Can i demand they fit wider flashing as i don't think it is serving any purpose? They have said they will come and add sealant but surely that would perish in a short time? Any advice would be so grateful
