Upstairs cold water pipe located on outside of building, needs to be insulated

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.59 PM

Hi, our home has a cold water pipe for the upstairs bathroom which instead of running inside has been fitted on our outer wall. This pipe freezes every winter and has cracked and been replaced, however we've been advised to insulate the pipe. Would this ensure the pipe didn't crack even at temperatures of up to -5? the pipe runs close to the wall so insulation would have to be fitted around the pipe. Thanks

yes insulate it ,is there no heat in this room,it is inside of building ?,if not you will need armaflex lagging with self regulating trace heating tape to stop it freezing.

Hi, This pipe should be reinstalled inside the property for a hassle fee future. It will cost less in the long run.
