How to deal with insulation sticking out of dwarf wall

Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 2.59 PM

I'm about to put 100mm dual foil faced celotex in the stud work of the dwarf wall between what will be the warm loft room and cold eaves/storage space. The studs are approx 94mm thick so I'm wondering how to deal with the 6mm overlap? Should the insulation stick out into the cold eaves and would I need to apply foil tape over the 6mm of exposed celotex foam? Building control will visit so just wanting to avoid any issues! Also, is it normal to leave the celotex filled studwork facing into the eaves or add some kind of board to the eaves side of the dwarf wall to cover that? I ontend to board an area of the eaves floor, over the fibreglass below, put side panels in and have an access hatch to effectively make a cold eaves storage cupboard. Any advice you could share will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rob

I usually plaster board the inside of the loft space just so the insulation doesn't fall out and then on the room side cut 40mm strips of 10mm plaster board and fix these to the studs before overboarding
