Hi I hope you can help me, I just had new electric roller garage doors fitted and unfortunately the concrete floor of my garage is quite far off level in one corner of one door which I need to fix for the doors to close and lock level (drops about 2 inches over the length of the door). The garage floor is concrete, I was wondering if its ok to use a self levelling compound. My only concern is that the level needs to be extended outside of the garage door for about six inches. Can the self levelling compound be used as a final finish to the garage floor and also will the few inches outside the garage door be ok in the frost/rain.sun or will I need to add a further skin of something else? - Or should I be using something else entirely like concrete ?
I have worked extensively with self levelling compounds within the flooring trade, there is 2 products you need to be using to exclude frost heave , the 1st is P43 primer and use a good quality compound, 600 from ball would be my choice, scabble the surface of your garage base on the outside(chip it with a hammer will do), and then your be fine, the sports car workshop floor in Maidstone looks good still and i self levelled that 7 years ago,

Hi, we have used a self levelling compound on an existing concrete floor but it will only cover 12mm depth at a maximum. The self level is mixed with a solution which helps with variations of temperatures. Not sure of the brand name, hope it helps. Aaron

Hi, i have been a floorlayer for 38 years. Until recently NO compound was guaranteed for exterior use. The only one i know of & have used (a lot), is F Balls Stopgap 850.........5-15mm application, if deeper add granite chippings & `top-coat` with a second layer once dry. Hope this helps.
