Distance from laminate upstand to ceramic hob
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.20 PM
Hi The distance between the edge of the ceramic hob and the laminate upstand is 3 cm in our kitchen . I was wondering if there is any safety concern or regs that limit this fitting ? Really appreciate your response and thank you !

Most hobs etc are cut 65mm from the front edge of the worktop, I would look at the diagram in your installation pack/ instruction to see if the manufacture has a specified minimum distance from the hob to any obstruction. what you need to do also is put the pan that corresponds to the ring size on the hob and see if your pan hits the upstand if it does then you need to remove the upstand and fit a splashback.

What you need to do is to look at what your hob fitting instructions tell you the distance from the rear wall finished surface! Your upstands constitutes this finished surface, NO Other RULES APPLY!
If you a closer to the finished source as indicated by fitting guide lines, you woul need to remove the upstand, be aware that any splash back should also be subject to the guide distance as it could shatter due to excess heat.
