No water from hot water taps

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.43 PM

Sorry guys I'm asking but me and water don't mix. I've drained my heating and water tanks to change over a bathroom suite and fit 2 new radiators, 1 in the bathroom and one downstairs in the hall. I have now done what I have needed to do and filled all the radiators back up and running. The problem is there is only a small dribble of water coming from the kitchen hot tap and none from the bathroom which is upstairs. A small break down of the system, I have an Ideal logic15 boiler in the downstairs back hall with a water cylinder just facing in an airing cupboard. I have 2 tanks in the attic one big and one smaller just sitting up above and both fed by the main water supply. My warm water pipe seems to come from the cylinder and splits going to the kitchen, bathroom the back up to cold tank as over I think? What should I do? I tried this finger trick over my kitchen mixer tap to no avail. Am I wrong in trying this, I don't know if I'm diagnosing the right problem is it an airlock ? Thanks for any help in advance guys

kitchen mixer taps do not mix water inside of the tap so holding your finger over spout will not force main back into hot service you just get wet,if you have a hose connection which goes over spout the type with a jubilee clip on it push that on clamp hose and open hot then cold to force main into hot service hold onto for a couple of minutes, put some washing up liquid into hose connector before you fix it to tap, this will help break surface tension in pipework, you can also go up to tank and squirt washing up liquid down tank connector to cylinder.
