Will a 20 gallon cold water tank be adequate?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.59 PM

Many thanks for your answers so far. Flat is on the 2nd floor. Pressure is 1.5bar while flow rate is 9L/......apparently not good enough for unvented. We have also been advised that Combi boilers don't give enough pressure. We don't want to incur an extra expense for a pump.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Mjo_40, If space is the main issue here, why not try a fortic tank or combination cylinder where the header tank and hw cylinder are one unit. There are many different sizes that would probably suit the space you have with enough litreage for the supply required for a family. The header section tends to be proportioned just right for the cylinder size. Hope this helps, Ben Dwellings Maintenance and Services Update for edit. Your best option is going to be an unvented system then. You can get a larger storage of hot water, with no header tank!

Recommend installing a 150 litre Economy 7 un-vented cylinder. No need for cold water stooge tank! Example: https://www.plumbnation.co.uk/site/gledhill-stainless-lite-plus-unvented-direct-cylinders/
