Ideal Classic FF230 and Heatrae Sadia MegaFlo

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.43 PM

I’ve got the Ideal Classic FF230 boiler and Heatrae Sadia MegaFlo CL145 combo with Patterton control unit and Patterton thermostat. My question is that the control unit doesn’t seem to do anything with the water heater and it seems that it heats the water in every like 2-3 hours consuming electricity. Is it normal? My second question is: how much difference a new Worchester boiler mean to this system. I’m not too sure if this boiler is a system or combi etc.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello, When turning on demand for heating or hot water the boiler should fire up and either start to heat the radiators or hot water cylinder ) normally takes about 30 mins to provide you with a full cylinder of hot water ) it sounds like you may not be using it properly or could be a fault with it it shouldn’t consume electricity as it’s gas that you should be using to heat up the hot water cylinder ( unless you have the immersion on without knowing ) that will be the reason you may be consuming more electricity, would be best for an engineer to come round and check over all the controls and components are working correctly, you have a system boiler not a combi, I’m not the biggest fan of Worcesters more a Vaillant person but it may be a waste of time installing a new boiler if it’s external controls that are not working properly for you
