Plastering procedure- reskim or strip and skim again?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.59 PM
HI there, I have posted this as a job but curious if someone can help me with the best procedure. Have just moved in to a 1920s terraced house and am stripping the wallpaper in the lounge for repainting. Comes off very easily, am not using a steamer. This is what i have found so far (please copy and paste links in new window!): https://ibb.co/kzsDA0 Skim coat seems mainly ok though when you run your hand over it, it undulates quite a lot and an worried this will catch the light. It has come off in some places revealing the plaster underneath (doesn't seem blown anywhere though dark and discoloured). My initial thoughts are it would be ok to patch fix and then reskim but perhaps it's better to have skim coat removed and start again? If so, what treatments would be needed (sealants, bonding materials, etc)? Here are 2 more pictures of revealed plaster: https://ibb.co/mpjPiL https://ibb.co/mpjPiL Many thanks in advance!
